Our Story & Meet the Team

Welcome! We are so happy you are here!

We wanted to do a little write-up to answer one of the common questions I've been getting and to introduce ourselves a little bit.

The question is, "What inspired me to open this business?"

First off, my kids 🥰 and secondly, it was a life-changing visit to another wonderful process art studio in Ontario that set me on this path. I brought my kids to an amazing studio when my kids were 2 and 4 - but it was an hour away from our home. Once we got back from our one and sadly only visit (we moved to Alberta shortly after)

I started researching what process art meant and how much our kids need to be able to engage in messy play. After that, I created a messy room for my kids on my beautiful wrap-around porch. I put all their messy play items in there. Sand, playdough, markers, crayons, paint - everything. I also put in a huge sandbox and outdoor chalkboard in the backyard for them.

Soon after, my husband had an amazing opportunity to move to Alberta to further his career. So we sadly but excitedly sold our 130-year-old home and moved here to Cochrane. The houses are much different here - no more large gorgeous porches to contain the messy play. I started searching for other places nearby to bring the kids to - nothing like it here in 2017.

By 2018, I had written my business plan for The Messy Moose. But being a stay-at-home mom, it felt like never the right time for our family to have me work outside the home.

Fast forward to now, my kids are older, and they are more independent. But also, they aren't too old that they can't benefit from some creative, messy play. That was really important for me - to be able to include my kids in this business. You'll often see them here! 🥰

So this business is everything important to me since that one magical studio visit, a passion I am so happy and eager to share with all of you! 😍

If you've read this far, thank you! If you've come into the studio or shared my page with your friends, I thank you too! ❤️

Hope to see you here at The Messy Moose Kids Art and Sensory Studio 🫎

Causes

Empowering Women: A Commitment to Causes at The Messy Moose Studio.

At The Messy Moose Studio, we believe in the power of business to make a positive impact on society. Beyond our commitment to providing exceptional art and sensory experiences, we recognize the importance of supporting causes that resonate with our values. In our dedication to fostering a better world, we have chosen to champion the cause of women's health by supporting two significant conditions, Endometriosis and Lupus, that we, unfortunately, know firsthand the struggles women face with these conditions.

Why Women's Health Matters: Women's health is an integral aspect of overall well-being, and it is crucial to address the unique challenges and conditions that affect women. Endometriosis and Lupus are two conditions that disproportionately impact women, often causing physical and emotional distress. By focusing our efforts on supporting these causes, we aim to contribute to the advancement of medical research, awareness, and support networks for those affected.

The Messy Moose Studio is proud to announce that we will be regularly donating part of our profits to The Endometriosis Network Canada and Lupus Canada. These organizations play a crucial role in funding research, providing resources for patients, and raising awareness about these often-under-recognized conditions.

  1. The Endometriosis Network Canada: Our donations to TENC aim to drive research initiatives, facilitate early diagnosis, and improve treatment options. By supporting this cause, we hope to contribute to a future where women with endometriosis can lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

  2. Lupus Canada: Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects women. Through our support for Lupus Canada, which aims to assist in funding research projects, promoting awareness campaigns, and offering assistance to those living with Lupus. By addressing the unique challenges faced by individuals with Lupus, we aspire to make a meaningful impact on their lives.

How You Can Join Us: As a customer of The Messy Moose Studio you are an integral part of our mission to make a positive difference. By choosing to come play at our studio and purchasing our retail items, you are also contributing to the well-being of women affected by Endometriosis and Lupus.

Spread the Word: Help us amplify our impact by spreading awareness about our commitment to these causes. Follow us on social media, share our posts, and let your friends and family know that, by supporting The Messy Moose Studio they are supporting important women's health initiatives.

At The Messy Moose Studio, we are more than just a business; we are a force for positive change.
